Sealing Design Engineer

Automotive Sealing Design Engineer is responsible for the 3D model/2D Drawing creation ready to manufacture. This involves doing the packaging study, section study from concept phase to Tooling kick off. This role requires expertise in the CAD Software and technical knowledge related to commodities like Primary Weatherstrip, Secondary Weatherstrip, Glass Run Seals, Belts with a detailed understanding of the manufacturing, assembly techniques and constraints. 

This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including DRE, Supplier and Interface engineers (BIW, closure and mechanisms) to create innovative, efficient and best cost design proposals,

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop 3D sealing designs for new and existing projects from concept phase to Tooling kick off ensuring that they meet functional, performance, reliability, and regulatory standards.
• Work with cross-functional teams to understand sealing requirements and integrate solutions into designs.
• Collaborate with Design and Release Engineer and prepare 3D CAD proposals ensuring manufacturing feasibility and technical specifications considering the interface design constraints.
• Update 2D drawing, 3D Design models related to Sealing commodities.
• Ensure the 3D CAD model is prepared based on the manufacturing, assembly and tooling guidelines.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation for sealing designs, material specifications, and test results.
• Maintain design records of all sealing-related activities, including design changes, testing, and performance evaluations.
• Work closely with suppliers to develop innovative, efficient design proposals meeting the project cost and weight targets.
• Stay updated on the latest sealing technologies, materials, and industry trends.
• Implement innovative design solutions to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

B.E/B.Tech (Any Specialization) with Relevant Experience.

Skills & Competencies:

• Hands on Design Experience in doing packaging studies and creating design proposals using CATIA V5, V6 from Concept phase to Tooling Kick off.
• Finalize Master sections and develop 3D CAD collaborating with cross functional teams.

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software/2D Drawing creations and engineering design tools.

• Good knowledge in Design Rules, Tolerance Stack up, Design for Assembly and Design for manufacturing.
• Good understanding of automotive sealing materials.
• Knowledge in the manufacturing and testing of various automotive Dynamic sealings.

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

• Knowledge and ability to anticipate potential quality issues in design and propose countermeasures.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Good/expertise in designing commodities like Primary Seal (Door seal), Secondary Seal (Body Seal), Glass run Weatherstrips (GRWS), Door Belts (Waist Belt), Run channel (Glass Guides)
