Requirement is for an renowned OEM in Chennai, Looking for Architecture & Packaging experience candidates to work for the advanced vehicle architecture.
Key roles and responsibilities for the Upper body/ Under body Packaging Engineer include:
Lead and support the vehicle architecture development process from concept to production, with a focus on upper body and underbody packaging.
Develop and maintain 3D CAD layouts to assess packaging feasibility of systems and components, ensuring spatial integration across vehicle domains.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Body Engineering, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Interiors, Manufacturing, and Safety to resolve conflicts and balance trade-offs.
Ensure compliance with ergonomic, safety, homologation, crash, and NVH requirements while optimizing the use of available space.
Define and manage hard points, section cuts, and master reference geometry for architectural alignment.
Conduct benchmarking and competitive analysis to identify industry best practices and packaging strategies.
Participate in design reviews, DFMEAs, packaging clearance studies, and support virtual and physical build activities.
Provide packaging support to advanced technology integration, such as electrification, ADAS, battery systems, and thermal management.
Support cost and weight optimization initiatives without compromising vehicle functionality or performance.
Document and communicate packaging standards and best practices within the organization.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
5 to 10 years of experience in vehicle architecture and packaging, with a focus on upper body and underbody systems.
Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools (CATIA V5/V6, Team Centre).
Solid understanding of vehicle systems, manufacturing processes, and design for assembly.
Familiarity with regulatory and crash safety requirements (FMVSS, ECE, GTR, etc.).
Experience with digital mockups (DMU) and working in PLM environments.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Experience in EV or hybrid vehicle architectures.
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and dimensional engineering.
Hands-on experience with vehicle integration, prototype builds, and validation.
