This position is for Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Lead Engineer
Responsibilities
Establishing (with Head of Function where appropriate) the engineering plan of tasks necessary to properly discharge the project requirements including any derived requirements.
The configuration control to secure a baseline and any consequent change management of the engineering baseline.
Optimising the achievement of engineering requirements.
Recording engineering justifications in support of project requirements.
Technical risk assessment.
During a project initiation phase, setting up checklists compliant to customer and internal requirement. During the life of the project, maintaining the checklists to take into account any evolution of requirement and conclusion of continuous improvement analyses.
Managing work performed to meet contract/order and regulatory requirements including engineering reviews performed by or on behalf of the Chief Engineer. Where appropriate, ensuring that “experts” outside of the project team who can contribute to the design review are invited to attend.
In the event that conflicts should arise between operational requirements and exercising of technical governance, the matter shall be referred through the Technical Governance route to the responsible Chief Engineer.
Ensuring the correct level of procedures have been adhered to:
In the generation of analyses, design schemes, drawings.
In the carrying out of engineering tasks
By ensuring that suitably authorised and qualified personnel are employed on the project
Ensuring that the necessary corrective actions are implemented to checked deliverables prior to authorisation and issue.
Recommending training and contributing to appraisals of junior and graduate engineers.
Is in possession of or working towards delegated signatory.
Qualifications
BTech/MTech
Essential skills
Knowledge of aircraft Fuselage and wing structure and aircraft loads
Experienced in spectrum generation and Kt Calculation
Good in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) calculations of Airbus aircrafts (fuselage section)
Well versed in ISAMI modules (including crack models, joint models) and ISAMI template preparation
Should have Fatigue and Damage Tolerance experience related to Single Aisle, Long Range and A350 programs
F&DT Analysis of Junctions, notches, unfolding radius, lugs & pins
Sizing and stress analysis of the Fuselage and Wing Structure and interfaces by means of hand calculations, numerical simulations (FEM)
Experience in numerical modeling, post-processing and reporting of the results
Very well-versed in stress dossier writing
Good in excel macros
Knowledge of Airbus processes and procedures
Expertise in the below tools is required
ISAMI
Hyperview (post processing knowledge)
Catia V5, PASS SSI (Basic Knowledge)
Nastran/Patran
Microsoft Office
Airbus Supply
Desired skills
Visual basic and or python programming knowledge.
Automation of repeatable tasks / processes.
Experience in initial Design Stress (Static, FDT and FEM) tasks of Aircraft Structures.
