Transmission Testing & Validation Engineer – AT & AMT
Role Purpose:
To plan, execute, and report Automatic Transmission (AT) and Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) testing
and validation activities at component, system, and vehicle level, ensuring compliance with internal and
international standards, and supporting robust product launches Including Design & Development skill set.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute Design Validation Plans (DVPs) for AT & AMT systems.
• Conduct bench-level and vehicle-level tests including endurance, performance, NVH, thermal, and abuse
cycles.
• Operate and monitor test rigs (dynamometers, synchro benches, hydraulic rigs, climatic chambers).
• Manage instrumentation & data acquisition systems for torque, pressure, temperature, vibration, and
CAN bus signals.
• Analyse test data and prepare detailed test reports, highlighting NOK results and root cause analysis.
• Support TCU calibration validation, gearshift quality assessment, drivability evaluation, and diagnostics
testing.
• Ensure compliance with internal RIVM standards, ISO, SAE, and homologation requirements.
• Participate in failure investigations, FMEA, 8D, and DFSS reviews, and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate with global teams, suppliers, and cross-functional groups for validation alignment
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards in all test activities
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
• On-time delivery of validation milestones.
• Accuracy and completeness of test reports.
• Number of issues identified and resolved pre-SOP.
• Compliance with safety, quality, and validation standards.
• Effective collaboration with global stakeholders.
• Customer Issue analysis and propose ICA and PCA
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
• 6 to 8 years of experience in AT/AMT transmission testing & validation (OEM/Tier 1 preferred).
• Experience with AISIN, ZF, Valeo, Magneti Marelli, or similar transmission systems will be an advantage.
Required Skills & Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of AT & AMT architectures, clutches, DMF, hydraulics, and mechatronics.
• Hands-on experience with design & development, testing & validation at both vehicle and bench level.
• Familiarity with CAN, LIN diagnostics, and tools such as Vector CANalyzer/CANape, INCA, ETAS.
• Competence in data analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, AVL Concerto, Excel).
• Understanding of shift strategies, gearshift quality metrics, and NVH analysis.
• Working knowledge of emission and safety requirements
• Excellent reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a global, cross-functional environment and manage suppliers.
