Overview

Automobile Mechatronics Engineer - Transmission Systems

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electromechanical systems for transmission products (e.g., dual clutch systems, actuators, torque converters, DMF).
  • Participate in system architecture design, including sensors, actuators, and electronic control units (ECUs).
  • Perform requirement analysis, feasibility studies, and system integration activities.
  • Conduct modelling, simulation, and validation of mechatronic systems using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Support DFMEA, design reviews, and risk assessments for product design and integration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Mechanical Design, Electrical, Software, Validation, Manufacturing).
  • Work on testing and calibration of electromechanical sub-systems on bench rigs and vehicles.
  • Ensure design compliance with and customer standards for performance, safety, and quality.
  • Support product industrialization and assist in resolving manufacturing or field issues.

Qualifications

  • B.E / B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech in Mechatronics / Mechanical / Automotive / Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Essential skills

  • Strong understanding of mechatronic systems, including sensors, actuators, and control interfaces.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 for 3D mechanical design and packaging.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, CAN/LIN communication, and system diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, wiring harness, and connector design.
  • Experience with transmission or powertrain systems (automatic, dual clutch, or hybrid systems) is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, and validation processes.
  • Good analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Desired skills

  • Experience working with Tier-1 automotive suppliers or OEMs in transmission or powertrain domain.
  • Prior exposure to design and validation methodologies is an added advantage.
  • Experience in functional safety (ISO 26262) or system validation preferred.
