Overview

We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to design, govern, and deliver scalable, secure, and compliant technology solutions across ICON’s clinical, safety, data, and enterprise platforms. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, product teams, enterprise architecture, and external vendors to ensure solutions align with ICON’s strategic, regulatory, and operational objectives.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities, Required Skills & Experience

  • 15-18+ years of overall IT experience with 5-7+ years in Solution / Enterprise Architecture roles within large, complex organizations.
  • Proven experience in designing end-to-end solution architectures covering application, integration, data, security, and infrastructure layers.
  • Strong capability in translating business and regulatory requirements into scalable, maintainable, and compliant architectures.
  • Experience working within architecture governance models, including design reviews, architecture boards, and standards enforcement.
  • Strong understanding of security-by-design principles, including zero-trust concepts with identity and access management
  • Ability to create and maintain comprehensive architecture artifacts: High-Level Designs, Logical, physical, and deployment architectures, Integration, data flow, and security diagrams, Non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, availability, resiliency).
  • Deep experience with enterprise integration patterns and Tools
  • Strong understanding of cloud and hybrid architectures (AWS, Azure and GCP)
  • Experience in designing solutions with High availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, Performance and cost optimization.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML and Generative AI architectures within enterprise and regulated environments.
  • Experience designing solutions involving, Machine learning pipelines (data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, inference)
  • GenAI components such as Large Language Models (LLMs), embeddings, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • Understanding of AI integration patterns, including: AI services consumed via APIs and Embedding AI capabilities into existing enterprise applications and workflows.

 

Experience

15-18+ years of overall IT experience with 5-7+ years in Solution / Enterprise Architecture roles within large, complex organizations.
