Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in automotive mechatronics systems to support the design and development of components related to sensing, control, and cockpit electronic systems. The role involves end-to-end CAD design, detailing, and validation support for components manufactured through casting and plastic injection molding processes, with a strong focus on design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and thermal management.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Develop parametric 3D models using CAD tools (e.g., CATIA V5 / 3DEXPERIENCE) for plastic and casting components
  • Create and manage complex assemblies using structured design methodologies (e.g., skeleton-based modeling)
  • Perform detailed part design aligned with DFM and DFA principles
  • Generate 2D drawings and 3D annotations (GD&T) suitable for production release
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis using industry tools (e.g., 3DCS or equivalent)
  • Design and optimize thermal management components such as heat sinks and enclosures
  • Ensure CAD data quality through self-checks and adherence to modeling standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, validation, and suppliers
  • Manage and maintain design data within PLM systems
  • Deliver tasks within defined timelines and effort estimates

Qualifications

  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
    • Strong understanding of automotive product development lifecycle
    • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as injection molding and casting

Essential skills

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in CATIA V5 / 3DEXPERIENCE (Part Design, Assembly, Drafting)
  • Strong knowledge of parametric modeling techniques and structured design approaches
  • Expertise in GD&T and engineering drawing standards
  • Experience in tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Understanding of thermal management in electronic/mechatronic systems
  • Knowledge of DFM and DFA principles
  • Experience working with PLM systems
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills

Experience

  • 4–5 years of experience in mechanical design within the automotive domain
  • Experience in designing components related to one or more of the following systems is preferred:
    • Camera and sensing systems (e.g., vision modules, radar, ultrasonic sensors)
    • Electronic control units (ECUs), domain/zonal controllers
    • Cockpit and display systems (e.g., instrument clusters, HUDs)
  • Hands-on experience in working with plastic and casting components in production environments
