Project Engineer – Centrifugal Compressor
Project Execution & Technical Leadership
• Own the technical scope of centrifugal compressor projects, ensuring alignment with customer specifications, API/ASME standards, and internal engineering practices.
• Translate customer data sheets, process conditions, and mechanical requirements into detailed engineering deliverables.
• Lead technical reviews with internal teams (design, manufacturing, controls, testing, supply chain) to ensure project readiness and risk mitigation.
• Support project managers with schedules, technical clarifications, and progress reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Engineering & Design
• Develop and review compressor component designs, rotordynamics analyses, performance predictions, and mechanical layouts.
• Generate and validate engineering documents including P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, BOMs, and auxiliary system specifications (lube oil systems, seal gas systems, cooling systems, etc.).
• Ensure compressor designs meet performance guarantees, reliability expectations, and customer-specific requirements.
• Collaborate with controls engineers on instrumentation, surge control strategies, and system integration.
Customer & Supplier Interaction
• Serve as the primary technical interface for customers, providing clear communication on design decisions, deviations, and technical queries.
• Participate in customer design reviews, HAZOPs, FATs, and site visits as needed.
• Work with suppliers to evaluate technical proposals, ensure compliance with compressor package requirements, and resolve engineering issues.
Testing, Validation & Compliance
• Support shop testing activities, including performance testing, mechanical run testing, and API compliance checks.
• Review test data, troubleshoot issues, and ensure successful validation of compressor performance and mechanical integrity.
• Ensure all engineering outputs comply with applicable standards (API 617, API 614, ASME, ISO) and customer specifications.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including design reports, test procedures, deviation requests, and change notices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing lead time, improving design quality, and enhancing standardization across compressor product lines.
