ROLE PROFILE

The Opportunity

Quality Systems leverage technology for delivering an integrated solution to position problem solving teams to do great work with the least amount of required effort. Systems we create and manage have the capability to gather, store, organize, manipulate, calculate, analyse, format, and report vast amounts of data in order to create actionable information. Advanced analytics is used to integrate data from numerous sources throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle and run predictive analytics to identify and prioritise root causes of product quality issues.

We are looking for outstanding problem solvers who love working with data and are inquisitive and excellent with technology. They will be executing data projects that are varied in nature and demand a wide spectrum of skills from data manipulation through to data visualisation. They will need be detail orientated and methodical, self-motivated to learn and an ambition to become an expert in applying modern technologies is essential. 

Key Performance Indicators

●        Products delivered on time and to cost and user accepted to standards.

●        Story point velocity (measure of efficiency)

●        Reliability of data pipelines, number of bugs/issues reported on products.

●        Adherence to JLR Data Engineering best practise

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

●        Create and maintaining database standards and policies.

●         Managing the database availability and performance, including incident and problem management.

●        Design, Develop, maintain and enhance data pipelines 

●        Assemble complex datasets for a range of applications and teams across the business. 

●        Identify, design and implement process improvements in data pipelines. Automating manual processes, increase scalability, reduce run time and optimise cost.

●        Maintain analytic tools and solutions to support the business in data driven decision making and actionable insights.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

●        Previous experience of applying Data Engineering techniques in existing role

●        Significant practical experience of applying modern CI/CD tools & techniques.

●        Hands-on, practical experience of using at least one major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, Azure) . GCP specific services are Cloud Composer, Cloud Run, Cloud Function, Bigquery, Dataform etc.

●        Very strong SQL skills plus significant expertise in Python or equivalent programming language (eg. Java, R) 

●        Excellent level of ability to structure, analyse/ interpret data.

●        Previous knowledge and experience or using GUI based Analytics tools for transforming and analysing data such as; Airflow

●        Data exploration, visualisation in Tableau, Looker, Power BI or similar

●        Experience Range – 3-7 Years

Desirable:

●        Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred.

●        Previously working in Agile project management environment using Scrum

●        Process oriented with great documentation skills.
