Overview

Design/Launch Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Support vehicle launches for Body & Interior sub-systems by achieving program quality targets DPVA, DPVF, and DPVW across all milestones.
  • Drive issue resolution and quality convergence activities through structured problem-solving methodologies such as 5D, 8D.
  • Review engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and dimensional reports to evaluate product conformity and support tolerance stack-up assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Production, and Program Management teams to ensure successful launch execution.
  • Lead investigations and coordinate containment, corrective, and preventive actions for issues identified during prototype, pilot, pre-series, and production builds.
  • Support manufacturing plants during trial builds, pilot builds, and Start of Production (SOP) by identifying assembly, fitment, dimensional, and quality concerns.
  • Monitor vehicle fit-and-finish, dimensional compliance, gap & flush targets, and functional performance during launch phases.
  • Validate conformity of critical parts and supplier deliverables through audits, inspections, build events, and quality reviews.
  • Track launch-related quality metrics, open issues, supplier concerns, and escalation actions to ensure timely closure.
  • Coordinate cross-functional reviews to assess launch readiness and mitigate risks impacting quality, timing, or production stability.
  • Generate and present launch quality dashboards, KPI reports, risk assessments, and management status updates.
  • Support engineering change management activities and assess the impact of design changes on product conformity, manufacturing processes, and supplier readiness
  • Lead supplier issue escalation and recovery plans for critical launch-related quality concerns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Automobile / Production Engineering or related discipline
