Overview

The Junior Diagnostics Execution Engineer supports the implementation, validation, and maintenance of ECU diagnostics across vehicle programmes and platforms. This role focuses on executing diagnostics requirements, preparing diagnostics data, supporting test and validation activities, and resolving routine issues under the guidance of senior engineers. The objective is to deliver reliable ISO 14229 (UDS)-compliant diagnostics content for engineering, manufacturing, and service use.

Responsibilities

  • Implement ECU diagnostics requirements for services, DTCs, DIDs, routines, sessions, and security access in line with ISO 14229 (UDS) and programme needs.
  • Support the preparation, update, and verification of diagnostics data artefacts such as ODX/PDX, CDD, and DDT files for assigned ECUs.
  • Execute diagnostics validation activities using engineering and service tools, and record test evidence, observations, and defects.
  • Assist in diagnostics communication testing over CAN (DoCAN) and Ethernet/DoIP, and support issue investigation with relevant teams.
  • Support flashing, reprogramming, coding, and configuration activities during development, integration, and validation phases.
  • Contribute to manufacturing and end-of-line diagnostics implementation by preparing data, executing validation, and supporting issue resolution.
  • Support aftersales and service diagnostics readiness by assisting with diagnostics content checks, test activities, defect fixing, and preparation of aftersales diagnostic guides.
  • Support the preparation of plant diagnostic guides, end-of-line instructions, and related implementation documentation for manufacturing use.
  • Track diagnostics issues and action items, follow up on assigned closures, and work with software, validation, network, and system teams to support timely resolution.
  • Maintain documentation, change records, test reports, and action item updates for assigned diagnostics activities in line with project processes.
  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to senior diagnostics engineers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams for assigned tasks and deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Less than 6 years of experience in automotive ECU diagnostics, diagnostics validation, or related embedded/vehicle diagnostics activities.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14229 (UDS) and basic understanding of in-vehicle diagnostics transports such as DoCAN and DoIP.
  • Exposure to diagnostics data artefacts and tools such as ODX/PDX, CDD, DDT, or equivalent diagnostics specification environments.
  • Hands-on experience or understanding of diagnostics testing, flashing, coding/configuration, and defect tracking.
  • Ability to work in a structured engineering environment, follow defined processes, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support delivery milestones.

Essential skills

  • Implemented and updated diagnostics content for assigned ECUs.
  • Prepared and verified diagnostics data packages (ODX/PDX, CDD, DDT) for project release support.
  • Executed diagnostics test cases with documented results, logs, and defect reports.
  • Prepared plant diagnostic guides, end-of-line support documentation, and aftersales diagnostic guides for assigned scope.
  • Support for flashing, coding/configuration, and end-of-line diagnostics validation activities.
  • Issue tracking, action item updates, and routine diagnostics problem resolution support.

Desired skills

  • Improved quality and completeness of diagnostics implementation for assigned ECUs.
  • Better test coverage and faster identification of diagnostics defects.
  • Enhanced support for manufacturing, plant, and aftersales diagnostics readiness.
  • Timely support to cross-functional teams through accurate documentation, action item tracking, and issue follow-up.
