Overview

We are seeking an experienced Design Release Engineer (DRE) to lead the design, development, validation, and release of Visibility, Horn, Siren, and Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) components for automotive programs. The role involves managing component development from concept through production launch, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, cost, timing, manufacturing, safety, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in automotive visibility and warning systems, supplier management, engineering change management, product validation, and CAD/PLM-based development processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, validation, and release of Visibility, Horn, Siren, and AVAS systems.
  • Manage development activities for ORVM, IRVM, Wiper, Washer, Horn, Siren, and AVAS components throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure component and system development is aligned with quality, performance, timing, weight, cost, and manufacturing targets.
  • Coordinate vehicle build activities, engineering changes, prototype builds, and production releases.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Design, CAE, Validation, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Packaging, Electrical, Software, and Supplier teams.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, homologation requirements, and regional standards for visibility and warning systems.
  • Support benchmarking and implementation of latest technologies and innovations related to mirrors, visibility systems, horns, sirens, and AVAS.
  • Manage supplier development activities and monitor supplier deliverables to meet program milestones.
  • Identify cost optimization, weight reduction, quality improvement, and value engineering opportunities.

Key Deliverables

  • Manage project deliverables within assigned systems and ensure achievement of program milestones.
  • Coordinate supplier deliverables and support APQP, quality convergence, and product development activities.
  • Ensure timely reporting and communication of project status, risks, and technical issues to stakeholders.
  • Support concept selection, technical feasibility studies, and definition of system performance targets.
  • Prepare and release sourcing packages, technical specifications, and engineering documentation required for supplier nomination.
  • Ensure design robustness, manufacturability, serviceability, and compliance with engineering standards.
  • Lead DFMEA activities and support PFMEA execution with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
  • Coordinate DVP&R creation, execution, issue resolution, and validation sign-off.
  • Support component sourcing, tooling release (TKO), prototype builds, and production readiness activities.
  • Manage engineering changes through ODM, ECR, CN, CCD, and related change management processes.
  • Release and maintain product structures, BOMs, drawings, and associated engineering documentation.
  • Support issue resolution during prototype, pilot, pre-production, and production phases.
  • Provide engineering support for manufacturing plants during vehicle build, launch, and quality improvement activities.
  • Ensure completion of Engineering Design (ED), Design Validation (DV), and Process Validation (PV) testing activities.
  • Support lifecycle management activities including facelifts, model year updates, cost reduction, and quality enhancement projects.
