Overview

We are seeking an experienced Design Release Engineer (DRE) with strong expertise in Body-in-White (BIW) to lead the design, development, validation, and release of BIW structural components for automotive programs. The role involves managing component development from concept through production launch while ensuring compliance with performance, quality, cost, weight, manufacturability, timing, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in BIW sheet metal design, UG NX/Catia, Teamcenter/PLM, DMU analysis, DFMEA, DVP&R, engineering release processes, supplier coordination, and vehicle launch support. Experience in both Upper Body structures (A/B/C pillars, Roof, Side Body, Closures Interfaces, Body Side Structures) and Underbody structures (Front Floor, Center Floor, Rear Floor, Cross Members, Reinforcements) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop BIW components and assemblies using UG NX/Catia.
  • Create parametric surface, sheet metal, and assembly models based on packaging, performance, geometric, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain associative assembly structures and EBOMs in Teamcenter/PLM.
  • Perform DMU analysis, clash detection, section studies, and clearance validation.
  • Collaborate with CAE teams to achieve DVP&R, DFMEA, crashworthiness, durability, stiffness, NVH, and safety requirements.
  • Ensure designs meet vehicle integration, regulatory, quality, cost, weight, and manufacturing targets.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Manage engineering releases, BOM updates, configuration management, and engineering changes.
  • Support tooling release activities and ensure completeness of technical documentation.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing plants to resolve design, process, and build-related issues.
  • Support prototype, pilot, launch, and post-launch engineering activities.
  • Drive weight reduction, cost optimization, standardization, and design harmonization initiatives.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for quality and manufacturing concerns.
