Overview

We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer with strong expertise in machining and powertrain component manufacturing. The role involves managing supplier quality activities for casting, forging, sintering, heat treatment, and machining processes, ensuring successful industrialization, production readiness, and sustained supplier performance throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Drive supplier quality assurance activities for machined, forged, cast, and sintered components.
  • Ensure supplier readiness for new product launches and serial production through effective APQP and PPAP execution.
  • Monitor and improve supplier quality, delivery, and capacity performance to meet business requirements.
  • Lead supplier audits, process assessments, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Drive structured problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone Analysis.
  • Ensure effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Support process capability improvement initiatives and monitor critical process performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Plant Quality to resolve supplier-related concerns.
  • Conduct supplier development activities and drive continuous improvement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, customer requirements, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 6–12 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Supplier Development within the automotive industry.
  • Experience working with engine, transmission, driveline, or precision-machined components is preferred.

Essential skills

  • Strong knowledge of casting, forging, sintering, machining, and heat treatment processes.
  • Hands-on experience in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans, and Process Capability Studies (Cp/Cpk).
  • Proficiency in supplier audits, quality assessments, and supplier performance management.
  • Strong understanding of quality tools, root cause analysis, and corrective action methodologies.
  • Knowledge of industrialization processes and production launch activities.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices.
  • Good project management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
