Work Preparation – Drawing Analysis Engineer

Responsibilities

Functions to develop:

  • Analyze 2D engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and technical documentation received through Technical Requests (Tech Requests).
  • Interpret engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing specifications.
  • Review drawings for manufacturability, assembly feasibility, and compliance with Aerospace standards.
  • Identify missing, conflicting, or incorrect engineering information and coordinate with design teams for clarification.
  • Support engineering change requests (ECR), engineering change notices (ECN), and design modifications.
  • Perform dimensional analysis, tolerance verification, and GD&T interpretation.
  • Validate drawing revisions and ensure configuration consistency between drawings and digital models.
  • Create technical reports, issue logs, and drawing analysis documentation.
  • Coordinate with Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to resolve technical queries.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for manufacturing issues related to engineering drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with Aerospace design standards, quality procedures, and airworthiness requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance drawing quality and engineering processes.
  • Maintain engineering documentation in PLM/PDM systems.
  • Support industrialization and production readiness by providing technical analysis of engineering data.

Qualifications

Any Graduation / Diploma in Engineering / Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME), or an equivalent technical qualification is preferred.

Essential skills

• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and aerospace drafting standards.
• Ability to interpret complex mechanical and aircraft assembly drawings.
• Good knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) as per ASME Y14.5 / ISO GPS.
• Understanding of aircraft structures, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) and Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM).
• Experience with engineering change management processes.
• Familiarity with configuration management principles.
• Ability to analyze tolerances, fits, and assembly interfaces.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, composites, and assembly.

Desired skills

 

  • SAP & ERP (PGI, PEA, PEM) Basic Awareness
  • AIRINA / Eqivalent Platform 
  • Aircraft Progress ACPNG
  • CATIA V5 / CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Office)

Experience

 

  • Lead / Senior Manufacturing Engineer: 6–10 years of relevant experience
  • Manufacturing Engineer: 1–3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the aerospace or aerostructure industry/Tooling Engineering background is an added advantage.
  • Experience with tooling validation, technical documentation, and production support is an added advantage.
