Virtual Commissioning Engineer

Responsibilities

Functions to develop:

 

  • Develop and execute virtual commissioning activities for robotic and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Create and maintain Digital Twin models of production lines, robotic work cells, conveyors, fixtures, and automated equipment.
  • Simulate manufacturing processes to validate production flow, robot movements, machine sequencing, and system behavior.
  • Integrate PLC logic, Human Machine Interface (HMI), robot programs, and automation devices within simulation environments.
  • Validate control logic, machine sequences, sensor interactions, and actuator operations before physical commissioning.
  • Perform cycle time analysis, throughput validation, and bottleneck identification.
  • Conduct collision detection, reachability analysis, workspace optimization, and safety validation.
  • Verify communication between PLCs, robots, vision systems, HMIs, and other automation equipment.
  • Support offline robot programming and robot path optimization.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning readiness reviews.
  • Troubleshoot simulation issues and resolve automation integration problems.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Design, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams.
  • Prepare technical documentation, simulation reports, commissioning procedures, and validation reports.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize manufacturing automation and production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards, customer requirements, and automation best practices.

Qualifications

Any Graduation / Diploma in Engineering / Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME), or an equivalent technical qualification is preferred.

Essential skills

  • Strong understanding of industrial robotics and factory automation.
  • Experience with Virtual Commissioning methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Digital Twin concepts and simulation-driven validation.
  • Understanding of robotic work cell design and manufacturing automation.
  • Experience with PLC programming concepts and industrial control systems.
  • Knowledge of robot kinematics, motion control, and path planning.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, and Profibus.
  • Familiarity with industrial sensors, actuators, servo systems, conveyors, and machine safety systems.
  • Understanding manufacturing processes including assembly, welding, material handling, painting, and machine tending.
  • Knowledge of cycle time analysis and production optimization.

• Dassault Systèmes DELMIA Robotics / 3DEXPERIENCE
• Siemens Tecnomatix Process Simulate / ABB Robotstudio / Fanuc ROBOGUIDE / KUKA.Sim
• PLC Programming platforms
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Office)

Desired Skills:

• Experience in aerospace, automotive, or advanced manufacturing industries.
• Experience with offline robot programming and optimization.
• Understanding of PLC programming languages (IEC 61131-3: Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text).
• Experience integrating robots with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and MES

Experience

 

  • Lead / Senior Manufacturing Engineer: 6–10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the aerospace or aerostructure industry/virtual commissioning activities background is an added advantage.
